Delilah and Apollo!
Hi Guys,
Just wanted to give you an update on how great the pups are doing. They've made themselves quite at home! We really couldn't have asked for dogs that were any sweeter. Thank you both and ARF for giving us the opportunity to give these great dogs a permanent home.
Delilah has adjusted amazingly well. After some lethargy from her HW treatment, she has perked right up. She is VERY fond of Apollo, and when we are at the dog park, that is mostly who she plays with. She is very friendly with, but has little interest in playing with dogs other than Apollo. It is hilarious to watch her "stalk" the squirrels on our walks. At home, she is perfectly content to find a cool spot and go to work for hours on her rawhide (usually the one she stole away from Apollo). Hearing the leash rattle sends her into a frenzy, and she usually lets us know how excited she is for a walk by "talking" to us...we've had entire howling conversations back and forth. She is always the first one at the food bowl come dinner time! When she's not sleeping or eating, she and Apollo can usually be found laying next to each other playing in a spectacular display of snarls, teeth, and claws. While it's not her style to be one of those dogs who lavishes you with over-the-top attention and kisses, she definitely shows her affection in many subtle ways that endure her to us and make her very special. She is honestly one of the most gentle and sweetest dogs I have ever seen, and we feel very lucky to have this sweetheart of a pup in our home.
Apollo....well, Apollo is pretty much the celebrity of the neighborhood. In six weeks, I don't think we've had a single walk where we haven't been stopped by people asking, "Whoa, what kind of dog is that?!" We've even had people on bike rides pull over and give these two plenty of attention. He is definitely a rockstar at the the dog park, playing with any dog or person with will pay him the slightest bit of interest. You can't help but look at that big goofy face and smile. Apollo has grown very attached to me, and sometimes finds it hard to sit still if I am doing things around the house; he MUST be in the same room to check out what I am doing. The energy this dog has!! Just when I think we've exhausted him, he finds reserves from somewhere and is ready to go for round 10. If he's not instigating playtime with Delilah (which is constantly), he's usually under my feet attacking his rope bone or a rawhide (usually one he stole away from Delilah). And, of course, when he's just not getting enough attention, he'll come put his big slobbery face in my lap for an extended ear scratching session. Despite the tough looking exterior, there's not a mean bone in this guy's body and you can't help but feel a bit happier when he's around.
So, all in all, a very easy transition for them into our home. Thank you again for placing them with us! We've attached some pictures below so you guys can see how they're doing.
Sincerely,
Mike & Ethan |
